Update below from BAM Nuttall, contractors for the ESCC Port Access Road:-

Newhaven Port Access Road
Bridge Beam Deliveries and Installation
Dear Local Resident,

Delivery:
As you may recall, we were due to take delivery of the final three bridge sections in February this year but Storm Ciara and Dennis, which followed, meant that we had to reschedule the deliveries. We apologise if the cancellation caused any inconvenience and we thank you for your continued patience.
The plan is now to lift the final three bridge sections into position directly from the transport vehicle. A new delivery date has now been set as Thursday 19th March 2020. The plan is that all three sections will be delivered on the same day. There is a small possibility that one section may have to be delivered on Friday but this will be dependent on the Police escort on the day.
Due to their size they are being transported under an Abnormal Load Movement Order and will have a police escort on the final leg of the journey. The time of the movement is dictated to us by the local authorities and written into the Order. It is unclear at this point as to the exact timings of the deliveries but it is likely the beams will arrive in Newhaven sometime late morning to early afternoon. This will be dictated on the day by the police escort.
We currently expect the beams to start the transit through East Sussex on Thursday 19th March 2020. During this time delays are to be expected as the beams manoeuvre through the local road systems.
The route of the beams is as follows:
Leaves the layby on the A23 at Warninglid, where it will have been parked overnight, with police escort. It will then travel south on the A23 to the A23/A27 interchange where it will negotiate the interchange and head west on the A27. The beam will then leave the A27 at the Shoreham junction where it will then join the A27 again this time heading east. The beam will leave the A27 at the Beddingham roundabout where it will head south on the A26 towards Newhaven. On entering Newhaven the beam will continue to the roundabout with the A259 by the level crossing. It will then turn right and then left into Railway Road. It will then continue down Railway Road to the East Quay port entrance.
Residents are requested not to park on Beach Road to avoid issues with the beams and site vehicles transiting to their destinations.

Installation:
Due to storms Ciara and Dennis the beams, which were delivered at the end of last year, are now due to be installed from Thursday 12th March 2020. The first section to be installed are the ones over the railway and this work has to be carried out at night. The following times have been agreed with Network Rail and East Sussex County Council for this work:
• Friday 13th March 00:35 – 04:35
• Saturday 14th March 00:35 – 04:35
• Sunday 15th March 00:35 – Monday 16th March 04:35
• Tuesday 17th March 00:35 – 04:35
• Wednesday 18th March 00:35 – 04:35
• Thursday 19th March 00:35 – 04:35
• Friday 20th March 00:35 – 04:35
• Saturday 21st March 00:35 – 04:35

Hopefully, depending upon the weather, the later periods will not be required and the remaining work can be carried out during daytime hours as normal.
