There is a severe weather warning in place for Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th December 2013 for the Newhaven area. Southerly winds of 60+ knots are expected.
Although the winds decrease for Christmas Day and Boxing Day, more bad weather is forecast for Friday 27th.
In view of this, the gates to the Western Promenade will be closed to the public on Sunday night (22nd).
All members of the public are strongly advised to keep away from foreshores and harbour walls/structures during the bad weather.
