“The Board of Directors of NPP have noted the decision of the Court of Appeal on the registration of the West Beach as a Village Green. However, NPP were successful in the first instance at The High Court, and the decision of the Court of Appeal was only a majority decision with one of the Lord Justice's upholding the decision NOT to register. Further to this decision of the Court of Appeal, the Board is seeking clarification on several grounds, and will therefore be applying for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court.

In the meantime, NPP will continue to operate the Port as usual and are continuing with the proposals with E.ON for Newhaven to act as the operations and maintenance port for the Rampion Windfarm, which should bring much needed marine activity and jobs to Newhaven."
